Curator’s review from Anastasia Skliankina
Art historian, art consultant, Moscow
Member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA)
Julia Shlenskaya's curatorial work is a unique blend of spatial sensitivity, philosophical reflection, and effective management. Her practice seamlessly integrates artistic concepts with physical space, creating projects that deeply immerse the viewer in the artistic ideas. This approach highlights her ability to not just "animate" space but to shape its identity through art.

One of the key aspects of Julia's work is her deep understanding of philosophical and psychological dimensions, making her projects multilayered and conceptually rich. This reflective stance allows her to go beyond merely presenting artworks, creating exhibitions that engage with the profound aspects of human perception and interaction with the world.

A notable example of this approach was the "Echoes of Family Relations" exhibition, held on February 26, 2024, in Belgrade, Serbia. Julia demonstrated her curatorial talent by creating an exhibition with a carefully thought-out spatial dramaturgy. She skillfully played with light and the exhibition space, creating subtly constructed narrative lines between the exhibits. This approach not only enhanced the emotional impact of the works on the viewers but also created an atmosphere filled with deep meaning and emotion.

Furthermore, Julia exhibits a high level of organizational skills and an ability to engage internationally. Her extensive network in the art world facilitates the realization of large-scale projects on the international stage. An example is the successfully organized exhibition in Belgrade in May 2023, titled "The Skin of Time," one of the key goals of which was to promote cultural convergence and interpenetration. This assertion is especially relevant for Belgrade, which has served as a cultural crossroads for centuries, where the interaction of various traditions has led to both synthesis and conflict. Julia's exhibition emphasized that culture cannot exist in isolation; it develops and enriches itself through dialogue with other cultures, making it a significant event not only because of its location but also due to its deep concept and masterful presentation.

Julia Shlenskaya's ability to "feel the soul of space" and transform it into a platform for profound art projects is a unique gift that turns her curatorial work into an art form in itself. Her projects demonstrate a rare combination of intellectual depth, subtle perception, and masterful execution, providing viewers and participants with an unforgettable experience. It is precisely because of this that her work not only garners interest but also leaves a deep impression, fostering new cultural dialogues and discoveries.

Given her professionalism, creative approach, and extensive international connections, I confidently recommend Julia Shlenskaya as a curator for projects of any scale. She consistently transforms each space into a unique environment that not only showcases art but also shapes new cultural meanings and values.

Curator’s review from Ekaterina Shalamova
Contemporary artist, Belgrade/Krasnodar
Participating in the "Echoes of Family Relations 2024" exhibition was a significant event in my life. I am grateful to curator Julia Shlenskaya for this unique experience. Working with Julia was very smooth. She carefully planned the exhibition preparations, ensuring that all artists were informed in advance about deadlines. Julia always responded to questions and clarified any misunderstandings, so throughout the preparation period, we, the artists, felt her support and care. I was impressed by Julia's work as a curator. She managed to seamlessly arrange such diverse, complex artworks in one space. Julia skillfully integrated the artistic statements into the space, reflecting her thoughts and reflections on the theme of family relationships.

Her background in psychology was clearly beneficial in this. Her work with lighting helped to reveal new dimensions of the artworks, highlighting different aspects of their interpretation, and adding a fresh perspective to the meanings that the artists wanted to convey to the viewers. I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of creative works and artists participating in the exhibition. The works of artists from different countries contributed to a comprehensive exploration of the theme of the family's influence on personality development. I would gladly recommend Julia to fellow artists and would love to participate in her future projects.

Curator’s review from Marija Đuričić
Master of Fine Arts and Founder and Curator of Galerija Centar in Belgrade
I had the opportunity to work with Julia twice in Belgrade, where she demonstrated exceptional skills in organizing and leading art projects. As the main curator of The Skin Team, Julia showcased unparalleled passion for art, a deep understanding of art trends, and the ability to create exhibitions that not only aesthetically impress but also intellectually engage the audience.

One of the most notable exhibitions under her leadership was "The Skin of Time," which garnered widespread attention and critical acclaim. This exhibition not only presented the works of artists but also provided a platform for emerging, unestablished artists to showcase their work. Additionally, the project "Go to the Next Level" is another example of her outstanding work, successfully attracting attention and engaging a broader audience.

Julia displayed exceptional organizational skills, from selecting artworks and coordinating with artists and sponsors to creating catalogs and managing exhibition promotions. In addition to her professional qualities, Julia possesses exceptional interpersonal skills. Her ability to collaborate with artists, colleagues, and gallery visitors contributes to a positive and inspiring atmosphere where everyone feels welcomed and valued. Julia is known for her integrity, reliability, and willingness to go above and beyond expectations to ensure the success of every project. I am confident that Julia will bring the same level of enthusiasm, creativity, and expertise to your project as she has to all her previous projects. Her passion for art and commitment to professional development make her an ideal candidate for this position.
